WHY GIVE?
Your donation helps to support a whole world of brand new theatre here at the Alleyway. Ticket sales only cover about 35% of what it takes to produce a play. That's why your support is so important -- especially when we want to keep access open through programs like our Pay What You Can Previews.
In 23/24, Alleyway will produce its 44th season of brand new plays and musicals, including: THE LIFE AND SLIMES OF MARC SUMMERS,written by two-time TONY Award nominee Alex Brightman and starring the host of Double Dare himself, Marc Summers!
This is just one example of a brand new play getting its start right here in Buffalo. We'll be welcoming partners like DRUNK THEATRE BUFFALO and even TEDx to our stages this season. We're working with award-winning local and national playwrights to develop their ideas into the plays and musicals that will be on Broadway! Last year, NPR's MORNING EDITION came to visit to do a special program on us and how we produce new theatre!
WHERE DOES MY MONEY GO?
We're raising money today to help support our education program's national initiative called #ENOUGH: PLAYS TO END GUN VIOLENCE. This program brings high school students from all over the country together with professional actors to present a one-night only play festival that happens simultaneously across the US. Students act as producers, writers, directors, and actors on the project and are paid for their time. A portion of the ticket sales go toward a local organization to help fight gun violence. Your gift of $71.60 will go directly toward this program.
Alleyway believes it is our responsibility to help the next generation of creative artists build their skill sets and have real on-the-job training as they grow into the the theatre-makers of tomorrow. You can help!

Alleyway Theatre, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit professional theatre company, and a collaborative incubator for bold, visceral new theatre works. Our education and development programs foster the talents of emergent artists from Western New York and beyond. We advance and uplift plays and musicals that embrace fearlessness, theatricality, humanity, and authenticity.
At Alleyway, we believe that theatre is for everyone. Alleyway provides free tickets to all productions through the ASI Arts Access program, free preview performances to A CHRISTMAS CAROL for students through our Project Spirit program, plus student discounts, and pay-what-you-can performances. In 1990, Alleyway was the first local company to offer a pay what you can ticket. This allows everyone, regardless of financial status, to see our productions.
The theatre complies with federal regulations regarding accessibility. As the company hires staff, selects plays, and casts artists, we are committed to creating an equitable and accessible, diverse and inclusive, joyful community representing the breadth of humanity, including people of all genders, races, abilities, and ages..
Alleyway has produced new plays and original musicals in the heart of Buffalo's historic Theatre District for 45 seasons. Highlights include the 2021 outdoor BUFFALO QUICKIES in storefronts along Main Street, the Mazumdar New Play Award (Black Bear Island, The Natural Horse, The Aleph Complex, Berserker...), a long running production of A CHRISTMAS CAROL, and of course KRAGTAR! THE AMERICAN MONSTER MUSICAL and THE LIFE AND SLIMES OF MARC SUMMERS. I
